Venice in California

13692609_770803973060420_8657669485842788893_nBusinessman and developer Abbot Kinney wanted to recreate Italian Venice in America. In 1905, in the marshes of Santa Monica were dug canals with a total length of 26 kilometers. Venice became known as the Coney Island on the Pacific coast.
Visitors were delighted by the large pier, a complete entertainment system of canals, arched bridges, gondolas which were imported from Italy.
Now the area around the channels is very prestigious and expensive. Houses near the canals are like a mixture from modest cottages to small palaces.
Quiet residential area with a nice atmosphere of old Europe contrasts with the frenetic bustle of Venice Beach. Is not it amazing ???
