In order to get a bottle of wine we need 600-800 grapes. The first grapes were planted in California in 1769 by the missionary Father Junipero Serra (Junipero Serra) Franciscan San Diego Mission de Elskala. He planted variety of grapes, known as the Mission grape. Thanks to the good climate, the winemaking has received huge popularity here. Now California is the fourth leading wine producer in the world, after Italy, France and Spain.
